UCD Adult Education
The Adult Education Centre offers a wide range of courses to adults. Our aim is to meet the needs of the lifelong learner with a variety of structures to suit as broad an audience as possible.

The centre has been involved in delivering classes to adult learners for more than fifty years.

The part-time programmes on offer range from interest to certificate and diploma level courses. There were over 5000 registrations to our programme in the last academic year. This year, the Adult Education Centre is pleased to offer 44 new and interesting courses as well as the well-established 140 existing and favourite courses.

UCD is delighted to welcome mature students, and Access courses are an increasingly popular option for adults who aim to study at third level. The Centre offers Access to Arts & Human Sciences, Access to Commerce and Access to Science & Engineering courses, which help adult learners as they prepare for further study. The courses aim to provide students with the skills and confidence required to succeed on an undergraduate course at UCD or another university. Access courses confer admission to certain courses in UCD, for mature students who meet agreed assessment standards. Guaranteed entry does not apply to other universities, however other colleges, both here and abroad have welcomed large numbers of our former students.Applicants may apply for places on Access using prior educational qualifications or life experience. It is necessary that all applicants be over the age of 22 on 1st January of year of entry to the course.

In addition to these courses, Adult Education offers a wealth of modular, accredited courses that can lead to NUI certificates and diplomas. All courses are designed in a modular manner to facilitate adults to learn at their own pace.

The adult education brochures, and registration forms, are available in August each year. Telephone 716 7123 or email: adult.education@ucd.ie to receive a copy; alternatively, course information can be obtained from the Adult Education website at www.ucd.ie/adulted
